For our Skin Barrier Cream, we sun-infuse calendula, red roses and lavender in organic jojoba oil for at least 30 days. The herbal oil is then mixed with tallow, kokum butter, squalane and baobab oil to create the silkiest cream that feels like a luxurious serum. Skin barrier cream is used to maintain and protect the physical barrier of the skin by preventing transepidermal water loss, locking in moisture and protecting the skin from UV damage, free radicals and pollution. A little goes a long way. The colder the jar, the harder the product. Any time your jar gets too warm the tallow will become soft. You can use as-is or place the jar in a cool, dark place (or fridge) and it will harden.
BENEFITS OF LUCKY PEARL TALLOW: Tallow in general fights free radicals and provides UV protection. It has a high concentration of palmitic, oleic and stearic acid, as well as the nourishing skin vitamins of A, D, E, and K. JOJOBA OIL: Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic meaning it won’t clog your pores and it is safe to use on even the most sensitive of skin. It is actually a waxy substance that mimics human sebum. Sebum is produced by the skin’s sebaceous gland and protects the skin from losing moisture. Jojoba oil also contains a large amount of vitamin E, which is a strong antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from aging, reduces inflammation and can increase collagen production. It also has antibacterial properties that help kill fungus and bacteria making it the ideal carrier oil for acne-prone skin.
CALENDULA: Calendula has a host of skin-friendly phytochemicals including flavonoids and carotenoids. The flowers are rich in alpha and beta amyrin, lupeol and quercetin which provide excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Calendula can also soothe irritated skin, calm inflammation and promote faster wound healing. It can also rejuvenate your skin, making it look softer, younger and dewy-fresh.
RED ROSES: The natural oils found in rose petals help lock moisture into the skin. Rose is especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin because the sugars in its petals create a soothing feeling. As a natural astringent, rose helps tighten pores and restore suppleness leaving the skin feeling smooth, not dried out.
KOKUM BUTTER: Due it its emollient properties, kokum butter helps keep your skin well-nourished and hydrated as it is easily absorbed and repairs the skin from deep within. It regenerates the skin cells and can improve elasticity which can brighten skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation.
BAOBAB OIL: Baobab is packed with vitamins B, C and omega 3, 6 and 9. Due to its omega content, it is considered a great ingredient for maintaining a healthy skin barrier. It can also help with dry, aging, and dull skin by reducing water loss. This also improves moisture retention and can increase collagen.
SQUALANE: Squalane (with an A) is a plant-derived, sustainable version of one of nature’s most effective emollients, squalene (with an E). It is a long-lasting moisturizer that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce flakiness and dryness, and it is noncomedogenic, making it ideal for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin. Over time, using squalane in skincare can reduce scars, reverse UV damage, and lighten hyperpigmentation.
SCENT: Very subtle, light, floral, slightly sweet, this incredible cream smells like you’re walking through a rose garden.
USES: Use on dry, damaged or irritated skin to act as a protective seal and lock in moisture. We like to use No. 3 as an overnight healing cream, but it is light enough to use as a daytime moisturizer and body lotion. Safe to use on children and adults of all age.
