True lilac essential oil, in the strictest sense, does not exist. The chemical composition of lilac flowers makes traditional extraction methods like steam distillation or cold pressing impossible. As a result, we have sourced high-quality handcrafted lilac flower wax from a farm in Oregon to harness the medicinal and therapeutic properties of this exceptional flower. We are only doing one round of this balm - it will not be restocked until next summer.
Jasmine Sambac and Lilac Flower Wax
How they are made: oil is extracted from flowers by placing the petals on trays and immersing them in a solvent. The petals are mixed with the solvent and their fragrance is transferred. Once saturated, the solvent is evaporated, yielding a fragrant, yellowish-brown waxy concrete or "floral wax", which can then be added to carrier oils and fat. The wax is nutrient-dense containing antioxidants and natural benzoic acid which has anti-aging properties, repairs the skin barrier, and can treat infection.
As with all skin care products, please do a patch test before use. If this product causes an adverse skin reaction, discontinue use immediately.
